CUAVA was honoured to host a visit and talk by Space BD Inc. this week.
Sydney University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Professor Duncan Ivison, welcomed this important international collaboration. It will not only support the CUAVA mission by launching our cubesats for deployment from the International Space Station, but also further the endeavours of the Australian Space Industry.
CEO and Co-Founder of Space BD Inc., Mr Masatoshi Nagasaki, spoke of how his start-up company has experienced accelerated growth after being selected by Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) as a launch provider. Now their end-to-end launch and deployment services have globalised following the signing of their first international launch contract with the University of Sydney.
There was a sell-out crowd to witness the public contract signing. We were also delighted to have Consul Tatusya Akagawa from the Japanese Embassy, Mr David Jacobs from the Australian Japanese Business Co-operation Committee, and Ms Briony Sturgess from the NSW Department of Industry in attendance.
